We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team in a newly created position serving as a Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) / Senior Commercial Building Inspector. As a key member of our inspection team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with building codes, zoning regulations, and safety standards.
Primary Functions and Accountabilities: The BZA Liaison / Senior Commercial Building Inspector will primarily be responsible for providing administrative support to the Board of Zoning Appeals and act as back up to the Plans Examiner and Permit Technician. The position will be perform on-site inspections of new and existing residential and commercial construction projects, structures and systems, as needed.
Minimum Education, Training and Certifications Requirements: Must have a minimum of eight (8) years experience in building trades, inspection, or equivalent training; OR Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering, architecture, or a related field with four (4) years experience. Must have and maintain following certifications or equivalent certifications through an accredited agency approved by the Director of Building and Code Enforcement; Erosion Control Inspector Certification, Disaster Assessment Certification, Residential Combination Inspector Certification and two (2) Commercial Certifications through the International Code Council (ICC) or be able to retain within one (1) year of hire.

Starting Rate of Pay: $29.81 -$43.26 / hourly, DOQ (This is a non-exempt benefits eligible position.)
